REACH Registration
Registration is the process by which chemicals producers provide a technical dossier of data to the European Chemicals Agency in order to continue placing their substances on the European market.
As DEHP is produced in high volumes it was among the first substances to be registered under the REACH registration process.
For the registration, carried out in 2010, DEHP producers prepared a full dossier of information about the substance. This dossier included technical details on the identity, production volumes and uses of the substance, and guidance about safe use. A Chemical Safety Report, which included a hazard assessment, also had to be submitted.
For the purposes of sharing data and costs related to REACH registration, the European producers formed a consortium.
